Understanding Moments
Rise Moments is an execution-only feature that capture entire macro market themes, news cycles, and industry trends in a single tap. Rather than manually researching and submitting separate trade orders for individual stocks, commodities, or indices, a Moment allows you to execute a curated basket of instruments tied to a single narrative.
The "ETF for a Market Story" Concept
Think of a Moment as an execution tool that functions like an ETF for a specific storyline. A Moment bundles the most relevant market assets associated with that trend into one actionable execution unit.
A Rise-Curated Product
The list of instruments that make up a Moment is crafted by the Rise Research Desk. The selection methodology is grounded strictly in narrative relevance to the story:
Direct Exposure: Companies or assets operating directly within the focus sector (e.g., hardware manufacturers for AI).
Indirect Impact: Key suppliers, infrastructure providers, or correlated market assets.
Relevance-First Sorting: Instruments are selected purely based on how directly they reflect the theme, not on past performance, price momentum, or ranking algorithms.
Important Note
Moments are purely execution tools. Rise does not offer managed portfolios, asset management services, or personalized investment advice. Moments are execution-only and directed entirely by you.
How to Trade a Moment
Executing a thematic basket trade on Rise is built to take just seconds from selection to execution.
Step-by-Step Trade Execution
- Select a Theme: Browse available Moments (e.g., "Is AI just getting started?" or "Are EVs taking over?") from the platform dashboard.
- Set Total Allocation Amount: Enter the total cash amount you want to allocate across the entire Moment (e.g., $500).
- Review Split & Weights: The platform will automatically calculate and split your allocated funds equally across all instruments in the basket. You can adjust the amount allocated to each instrument as you like.
- Confirm & Place Order: Review your total outlay and leverage parameters, then tap Buy this Moment to execute CFD positions across all instruments at once.
Market Hours & Order Queueing
Because a Moment can include global instruments traded on different exchanges (e.g., U.S. equities, European indices, and global commodities), some underlying markets may be closed when you place your trade. If this happens, positions for those instruments will be placed as pending orders and executed when their respective markets open. You'll be notified once they're executed.
| Market Status | Execution Behavior |
| Open Markets | Positions open immediately upon submission at current live market prices. |
| Closed Markets | Positions automatically enter a Queued Status with their allocated capital reserved. As soon as each underlying market reopens, the trade executes automatically. |
Managing Your Open Moments
Once submitted, a Moment does not create an indivisible "black box" product. Instead, it opens standard, individual CFD positions in your account that offer complete clarity and granular control.
Portfolio Tagging & Tracking
In your Rise Portfolio tab, every position originated from a Moment is tagged with an inline label, for example: [Moment: AI Trend] or [Moment: Clean Energy].
- Basket View: View total profit/loss (P&L), the amount reserved to keep positions open, and overall performance for the entire Moment story.
- Individual View: Drill down to inspect exact sizes, entry prices, live market rates, and current P&L for each specific stock or asset.
Managing Positions Independently
You retain 100% control over every trade after execution:
- Partial Exit: You can close an individual instrument within a Moment at any time without affecting the rest of the basket. For instance, if one asset has reached your price target, you can close it while keeping the remaining assets open.
- Editing Stop Loss / Take Profit: Set custom SL/TP levels on individual instrument or apply a stop level across the aggregate basket.
- Closing the Full Moment: With a single tap on "Close all trades", all open trades tagged under that Moment will be closed immediately at market prices.
Customization & Risk Warnings
Basket Customization Rules
Before confirming your order, Rise grants full flexibility to adjust the default basket setup:
- Custom Allocation Splits: While funds split equally by default (e.g., $100 allocated across 10 instruments= $10 per instrument), you can manually increase or decrease the amount for any specific asset.
- Removing Instruments: If you do not wish to trade a specific instrument in the basket, you can delete it from the list before placing the trade.
- Minimum Instrument Requirement: A Moment must contain a minimum of two (2) instruments to execute as a thematic basket trade.
Risk Disclosure: CFD Trading & Leverage
Trading CFDs on margin carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for all investors. Leveraged trading can amplify both gains and losses. Executing multiple CFD positions simultaneously through a Moment increases total margin exposure across your portfolio. Ensure you understand the underlying asset risks before executing.
Share Ideas for New Moments
If there is a market story, breaking trend, or emerging sector you would like to see turned into a Moment, you can submit your idea directly to the editorial team via the platform request box.
- Editorial Review: The Rise Research Desk evaluates all submissions for liquid market availability and narrative depth.
- Feedback Loop: Recurring user requests directly inform the weekly editorial schedule. If your suggested theme is built, you will receive an account update within 5 business days.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: What is a Moment and how does it work? A Moment is a curated list of instruments tied to a single market story. You pick a Moment, enter how much you want to spend, and Rise opens individual CFD positions across every instrument inside. Each trade is tagged Linked to [Moment] across your portfolio. The mental model is an ETF for a story.
Q: How are a Moment’s instruments selected? The Rise Research desk builds the list based on relevance to the story. Selection is not based on past returns, price trends, or any kind of performance ranking. The Moment is an execution tool, not a managed portfolio.
Q: How is my amount split? Your amount is automatically split equally across every instrument in the Moment. For example, if you allocate $100 to a Moment with 10 instruments, each one receives approximately $10. If you want a different distribution, you can adjust the amount allocated to each instrument to match your strategy.
Q: Can I change how much goes to each instrument? Yes. By default, your total amount is split equally across all instruments in the Moment. If you'd like one instrument to receive more or less than the others, you can easily adjust the amount allocated to each one within the Moment.
Q: Can I remove some of the instruments inside a Moment? Yes. You can remove as many instruments as you like, provided that at least two of them remain.
Q: Are Moments a managed portfolio or investment advice? No. Rise Moments is execution-only. Rise does not manage your positions, rebalance the basket, or make decisions about what to hold. The Research desk curates the instrument list. Everything after that is your trade.
Q: What happens if a market is closed when I buy a Moment? Rise shows market open/closed status prior to submission. Open positions execute immediately; closed positions enter a queue and execute automatically as soon as that market reopens.
Q: Can I close one position without closing the whole Moment? Yes. Every position opened from a Moment is a standard CFD trade. You can edit, partially close, or fully close any one of them on its own at any time, the same way you would any other trade on Rise.
Q: What happens to my submission if you don’t build a Moment around it? It feeds the editorial calendar. The Rise Research desk reviews every submission and tracks themes that recur. Most submissions inform what we cover next without becoming a Moment in their original form. You will receive a status update either way within 5 business days.
Q: What are the risks of trading a Moment? Trading CFDs carries significant risk of loss. You can lose more than your deposit on margin trading. A Moment opens leveraged positions across multiple instruments at once, which can amplify both gains and losses. Past performance of any instrument in a Moment is not a guide to future results. Read the Risk Disclosure Notice before trading.
